14 months

Such a wiggly little thing.  Look at those feet!

The 12th of the month snuck on up me this time and I barely got a shot in before bed!

 

Ryane wears size 4 diaper. She wears both 12-18 month and18-24 month clothes

Ryane goes down for 2 naps a day around 9 or 9:30 and again at 1:30 or 2. She still sleeps 1.5 hours in the morning and the afternoon is hit or miss.  Since I posted she has been better about the afternoon nap, she has been fighting this nap...

Ryane is still waking during the night.  Most nights she can put herself back to sleep.  Some nights Nic talks to her and she calms down.  This. Is. Cute.

Ryane would play in her bed after nap for hours (with me in the room with her)

Ryane has had a new nickname for awhile (like months and months) but I don't think I've mentioned it.  We call her kitty a lot, or Ryane Kitty Cat Miller.  I'm not sure why or where it came from... maybe kitty cat is similar to Cate?

Ryane has a few new words:

*milk (muk)

*yes (es)

*brush (ush and taps head)

*book (bup)

*chair (ch)

*weeeee (when going down the slide)

*upstairs (upst and does some weird thing with her tongue)

*meow (ah-ow)

*down (da)

 

Ryane wrinkles up her nose when you ask her what a bunny does

 

When she's eating, if you ask her if it's good, she nods her head.  This. Also. Is. Cute. :)

 

She looks at me throughout the day and says "bop?" and does a sign.  I have no idea what she is talking about or what she wants.  Makes me feel terrible. 

 

Since her first birthday she has been holding up a 1 on her finger when you ask how old she is (kept forgetting to write that one down).

 

Occasionally when you ask her who's cute or who's in the picture she will point to herself and say "eee!"

I dropped the afternoon feeding and am now nursing first thing in the morning and before bed.  My goal has always been 16 months with her (Kaden-12 months, Cam-14 months... I'm kind of a numbers girl- but enough about me).

Ryane

*will walk holding one hand

*has been standing by herself more the past couple of days.  She has great balance.  She also squats down most of the way and stands back up.  Super strength in her legs and no confidence.

*took one step yesterday

*still gives you a little smile when you tell her to stand up and she slowly slithers down to her hands and knees

Ryane gives really good hugs- she is as sweet as they come

Ryane loves to love on Cam

 

She loves to cook in her play kitchen, stir things in the pot and blow on the food that's hot

 

She loves to put objects in things, take them out, open and close drawers or cabinets and do it again (right now she is putting toys and pens in the desk drawer, taking them out, closing the drawer, sitting down and starting over)

Ryane asks to bring Lucy downstairs more often now

She loves accessories- scarves, bracelets, necklaces- but won't keep her hair bow in to save her life!

She takes whatever toy she is playing with and holds it up to her ear like she's on the phone

She loves to play upstairs and often asks to go upstairs.  We had to tighten the baby gate because she figured out how to open in and I would find her halfway up the stairs!

She plays by herself really well and find things to entertain herself, but she certainly likes me to be in the room when she plays

Ryane is a climber!  Yesterday I heard her whining and she was sitting on top of a tall storage container.

She loves to climb into and sit in small chairs, and she is quite proud of herself when she does

Ryane's favorite activity is a bath and she gets so excited when it's time for a bath.  She also loves to get her teeth brushed and fusses at me and points to the sink if I forget.

 

Ryane loves to imitate sounds and faces and she seriously cracks me up.  She has quite the personality and we are so in love!

Winter Break

I was really looking forward to Winter Break this year.  It's craziness here when everyone is home, but there is definitely something to be said about not having anything to do: Not having to get the kids out the door by 7:15, not having to pack lunches, not having to get to appointments on time, not having to have dinner on the table by 6... I needed a break from all that.

And, after 18 days home, it's nice to get everyone off to school again.  Ahhh, quiet.

 Cute story.  As we started getting Christmas cards, Kaden got very excited about opening them and hanging them up.  One of the pictures on one of his friends cards was a pose like this.  Kaden thought it was the coolest picture and wanted to reenact the picture and then wanted me to text the picture to him.

Holidays 2013

13 months

I just love this picture of my happy girl!

She goes to bed around 7 and sleeps for about 11 hours. Some nights she doesn't wake till morning. Every once in awhile she will wake up really upset during the night.  Nic is good about going up and soothing her (if I go up there she will want to nurse) by talking to her. She usually calms down right away with the sound of his voice. 

Ryane likes to play in her bed after nap.  A lot of days she will throw Lucy overboard and then fall down in the corner of her crib and laugh.

Ryane has a few new words:

*hat
*nana (banana)
*hot (she usually says this like a question- hot?)

*bzzzz (sound a bug makes)

*no (nose)

When you ask her to do some of her tricks, she will usually go through the whole thing-so big, peek-a-boo, dancing and patty-cake.

The girl can eat.  She rarely says she is all done.  She just keeps eating.

I am still nursing two to three times a day. I will soon drop the afternoon feeding and just feed her first thing in the morning and before bed.

Ryane

*will walk a few steps holding one hand

*she does not like you to let go and have her balance on her own

*when you ask her to walk, she gives a very cute smile and then goes down to her knees.  Stinker.

*has pretty good balance when she's not paying attention.  If she accidentally lets go of the couch, she can hold her balance there until she realizes she's not holding on!

Ryane is quite the snuggle bug and gives hugs a lot.  Today she crawled up to me, hugged me and then crawled away.

 

Ryane still plays a lot with Cam. And they've got a special thing going.

Ryane loves to crawl around holding a toy in one hand.

Ryane still lies her head on our shoulders. I can't get enough of that and every single time she does it I get choked up!

Ryane points and asks a lot of questions.  That?  Eh?

She loves wearing scarves.  Mimi wears scarves and she always asks if she can wear it.  When we put it on her, she looks so proud and will wear it all day without tugging on it.  If she finds pants, pajamas, a ninja turtle mask, etc, she will put it around herself like a scarf.

Ryane whistles when she hears dogs.

 

She loves to cook in her play kitchen.

Her hair is long enough for a front pony or a clip!!

 

Ryane takes a bath with her brothers in the big tub!  Yes, I know she's 13 months old.  But she didn't like the sound of the faucet for a long time, so I continued to bathe her in her small tub.  Now, if I start getting her ready for bed without the bath, she throws a fit!

Family pictures

I love everything about our family pictures this year!  It's always such a stressful time, trying to get everyone to be happy and smile and coordinate... But I'm so happy with how they turned out!

 

My mom and I wanted a generation picture with Ryane so we did a few of those a week before our family session.  These are fab as well!

Funny Cam

Cam isn't a man of many words. But today he was a little kore chatty in the car on the way home from school. He said a few things that cracked me up. 

"My teachers said the man is going to say to stay at home because there is going to be snow and ice."

And then he just told me "my heart said I want to nap on the couch."

So sweet and innocent. I love my little Cam-bone!

One year

Our 1 year checkup went well and the doctor was really impressed with Ryane's speech!

Weight: 22 lbs 3 oz (70%) 

Length: 30 inches (75%)

All three kids were within 1 inch and half a pound of each other at this age!

Ryane wears size 4 diaper. She wears 12-18 month clothes but could wear 18-24 month leggings.

Ryane goes down for 2 naps a day around 9 or 9:30 and again at 1:30 or 2. She generally sleeps 1.5 hours in the morning but she's been fighting her afternoon nap for a few weeks. I need to cut her morning nap shorter and see what happens. 

She goes to bed around 6:30-7 and sleeps for about 11-12 hours. Some nights she doesn't wake till morning. Some nights she wakes and puts herself back to sleep  Some nights she can't go back to sleep without me or Nic. 

Ryane plays more in bed than she used to. 

Ryane starts pointing and saying fish as we are walking in to get Cam and ignores anyone that may get in our way. She also has a favorite fish and loves to point her finger at him. 

Ryane has a few new words:

*uh oh
*nigh nigh (night night)
*da (dance)

*grandpa- I can't really think of how she says it- buhpa or guhpa

*muh (Mimi)
*eyes
*ba (bath) and does the sign.  She does this after she's finished with dinner every night.

When asked, Ryane tells you what a pig says (she snorts).
Ryane has a pretty signature dance move and will break it down whenever asked.

She signs and says "more" much more often than last month. She still likes to scream when she wants more food.

Food. Whew. That girl can EAT. I've got some issues with choking and Ryane was a a gagger/choker. So to save us all some trouble, I decided just to stick with pureed foods and melty foods. But then she started getting bigger and I felt a little bad that I wasn't giving her table foods so I started! And she is a professional eater. Scrambled eggs, toast, bananas, lunch meat, cheese, sweet potatoes, carrots, edamame, spinach patties, berries, milk out of a straw... In her tummy.

I am still nursing but have cut down to three times a day. I will soon drop the afternoon feeding and just feed her first thing in the morning and before bed. I'm hoping to nurse her till she's around 14 months (same amount of time as Cam).

Ryane

*crawls always on her hands and knees

*pulls herself to standing on anything

*cruises along and between furniture

*goes from standing to kneeling and back up easily

*can climb the stairs quickly

*will NOT attempt to stand unassisted (neither did her brothers) and appears to have no confidence in herself in this skill... even though she's done it when she's not paying attention!

*will try to walk holding on to our hands

*will walk several steps holding on to a rolling toy

  

Ryane still plays a lot with Cam. And he's actually really good with her.

Ryane loves to craw into the bathroom and rip the toilet paper into tiny little pieces.

Ryane still prefers for me to hold her when she's not playing. I don't mind most of the time, but she's pretty heavy!

She gives the boys a hug.  When they are laying or sitting on the floor, she crawls up to them and puts her head on them. She does the same thing to the cat.

Ryane still lies her head on our shoulders. I can't get enough of that.

She loves balloons and I think she also loves the word balloon. During her birthday she would point at them and when I would say "balloon" she would start laughing.

When I call Roxy or if Roxy barks, scratches at the door, etc, Ryane whistles!

She goes room to room looking for me when she can't find me.

Ryane crawls around about 90% of the day holding something in her hand.

She does not like her hair bows anymore!  Her hair is getting close to putting a clip in!

 

 This year, Miss Ryane Cate, has been one of the brightest of my life.  Thank you for being the sweetest little girl we could ever ask for!  Happy First Year, and many, many more.
