11 months

Avery is wearing mostly 6-12 month clothes.

He is wearing a size 4 diaper.

Avery still has 8 teeth but I think he is close to getting another.

He's {should I even write this?!} doing better at night and most nights sleeps all the way through. He has been waking at 6-6:15.

Avery stays awake about 3 hours before his next nap.

Avery naps twice per day, typically at 10 and 2:30. He sleeps around 2 hours.

Avery has been falling asleep with his arm around Garrison.

He is now nursing just three times a day! We are winding down...

Avery is doing great with foods. He usually eats yogurt for breakfast and then a fruit or veggie mix at dinner. We recently started real foods and he likes puffy cereal, yogurt melts, banana, carrots and mozzarella cheese.

Avery is still taking a bottle once a week when I work.

Avery is now saying more "ma" when he eats. He also signs eat.

Avery crawls FAST!

He likes to hold on to and carry around any object while crawling (paper, a bag, a toy, etc).

He pulls himself up to standing on everything and everyone.

He cruises a little bit along the furniture and will go from one object to another if it's close.

He can stand on his own for about 10-15 seconds but he does not like it!!

He loves Roxy and makes kissing noises whenever we talk about her.

He can climb the stairs.

He is such a climber. He climbed on the couch and he has scaled the side of the garden tub!

Avery loves to dance! He gets up on his knees and waves his arms around when he hears songs.

He loves to jump on the trampoline.

He loves to play in Roxy's water bowl and in the pantry.

Avery is busy! He doesn't like to sit still and he loves to explore!

How can it be that he will be ONE next month?! I love this sweet angel!!

First day

The first day of school was a great day for everyone! I took the boys to school and on the first day parents can walk the kids back to their class. Kaden and I walked Cam to his class. We unpacked his bag and put everything where it needed to go. There was a coloring activity at his table and he started working on it right away. I was shocked that there wasn't the clinging to my leg, one more kiss, one more hug routine that I was so used to last year. I stood at the door and whispered his name and he looked up at me, smiled, and continued to color. Kaden showed me where his class was and was cool as a cucumber. He acted like he owned the place! We unloaded all of his stuff as well and he found his desk, gave me a hug and I was on my way. I couldn't believe these were my boys!!

Ryane was ready to go when I got home and she could not wait to get in the car. This was her face the whole way to school.

We pulled into the parking lot and she asked "is this my school?"  I find this so funny and clever because for so long this was Cam's school or the boys camp, but now finally it was Ryane's school. When we walked in she was a bit overwhelmed. The director was taking pictures and lots of moms in the lobby so excited for Ryane! Once we passed the lobby, Ryane was ready to get to her class. Every class we passed she asked, "is this it?" We got to her class and helped me hang up her backpack. She walked in and we washed her hands and she headed straight for the Playdoh. And that was it! I basically had to make a big deal about leaving and she didn't bat an eye. The director said this and it's so true- she was born for school! When I picked her up she yelled, "I love you Becky and Suzi!"

We got this picture from her teachers and you can see how happy she is!

Everyone had a fabulous first day. Kaden and Cam love their teachers and Cam seems really proud that he is in a new school. He said his teacher told the class the were acting like first graders. He had the cutest smile on his face. His favorite part was getting chocolate from his teacher. Of course!

Cheers to a great year!!

Ryane meets the teachers

We have been waiting on this day for MONTHS!! Literally, for most of this year Ryane has been asking to go to school. She talks about it constantly and says, " next yeeeeeear, have my school. Have my Paw 'Trol packpack... Have my lunch. I go in and wash hands. I paint and play on playground. I have dance with Suzi..."

Thursday night at parent orientation we were given a picture of the teachers our child would have so in the morning and the weekend before school we can get then used to who they are. I love this idea! When Ryane woke up I gave her the picture and she didn't put it down all morning! She was so excited to see Becky and Suzi!

This year the parents signed up for a 15 minute one on one appointment in the class with the teachers. When we got to her class, Ryane immediately started looking around. I was shocked! I expected her to be a little shy at first but she was so interested in the classroom. When she got to the Playdoh table, she sat down and played there the rest of the time. Becky talked with her and Ryane was happy to answer questions.

When our time was up, Ryane did not want to leave! So funny but I saw that coming. She gave her teachers a hug and although she isn't smiling, she wanted to take a picture with her teachers. She can't wait for Monday!!

It's going to be a great year!

Kindergarten Meet the Teacher

I keep saying that I'm so ready for my kids to go back to school. The last two weeks have been difficult having everyone home and being too hot to be outside. Not to mention the little kids need to nap and Kaden and Cam are bored stuck at home.

Tonight was Meet the Teacher and Kindergarten orientation. I feel like I haven't even had a chance to process the fact that Cam is going to kindergarten. I haven't had time to think about all the changes he will be going through next week. Cam isn't the best with changes and I worry a lot about him being able to handle things on his own.

I didn't see this coming but I got completely choked up at Kindergarten Meet the Teacher. We walked into the class and I could barely speak because of the lump in my throat. All of a sudden Cam grew up. Just like that. He was brave and talked to his teacher as he held my hand. We looked around the class pointing out similarities between his new class and his preschool class. I just kept looking at my big boy hoping that he was doing well with this big change. I'm proud of how he did!

His teacher is so sweet and she will be a great match for Cam's shy personality. His friend Walker is in his class and sits right across the table from him! I can tell that he will have a great year.

I love you, Cam! I'm so excited for you- you're going to love kindergarten!

9 and 10 months

Busy summer + lots of kids = no time to blogging!

At his 9 month appointment:
Weight: 20 lbs 13 oz (70%)
Length: 30 inches (95%)

His nicknames are Aves, AA, Poo Poo and Smudge.

Avery is wearing 6-9 and 6-12 month clothes.

He is wearing a size 4 diaper.

Avery has 8 teeth!! 4 on top and 4 on bottom!

He's still not the greatest at sleeping but there have been nights in the past month that he has slept through the night on his own. If he wakes up during the night and Nic goes in there, most of the time he will go back to sleep and not wake till the morning.

Avery stays awake about 2.5-3 hours before his next nap.

Avery naps twice per day, typically at 10 and 2:30. He sleeps around 2 hours.

Avery still sleeps mostly on his belly and he likes to have his arm around his favorite bear, Garrison.

He nurses every 4 hours during the day.

Avery is doing better with puréed foods. He has tried most all fruits and veggies and is eating stage 3 foods with some chunks in there. He also eats and loves yogurt.

Avery is still taking a bottle once a week when I work.

Avery is babbling more and has said a few words!
*mama
*dada
*ball
*bath
*up
*baby

Avery is still crawling.

He likes to hold on to and carry around any object while crawling (paper, a bag, a toy, etc).

He pulls himself up to standing on everything and everyone.

He can get back down to his bottom or crawling easily.

He cruises a little bit along the furniture.

He has transferred from couch to chair a few times but generally goes back to a crawling position when he wants to move.

He loves Roxy and looks for her when you ask him where she is.

He can climb the stairs.

He climbs on everything, really.

Avery has loved being out in the pool this summer and kicks his legs in the water.

Avery adores both of his big brothers. He's a little scared of Ryane (who's not?).

He loves to play in Roxy's water bowl.

Whenever we call Roxy to put her in her crate, he makes a kissing noise like we do with his lips.

He waves bye bye.

Avery claps his hands when we say "yay!!"

Avery loves when Nic comes home from work! It's the cutest thing and none of the other kids did this at this age. When Avery hears Nic come home he crawls fast over to him, gets on his knees and wants to be picked up!

He is so sweet and happy. He laughs all time!

We had a great trip this year to Omaha. Although Avery didn't sleep well, the other kids did great. I didn't take as many pictures as I had planned, but we were too busy having fun! Besides visiting family and friends, we went swimming at Gpa's, went to the Children's Museum, went to the zoo, went to the College World Series, went boating and I got to go to JunkStock!

First word

This sweet boy said his first word!!

When we were in Omaha, Avery didn't sleep well at all. Nic and I traded off going in his room. One night I went in to give Nic a break and Avery leaned over to me and said, "Mama!"

I was exhausted but so happy!!

Family pictures

We had our family pictures taken in May in the wildflowers. Because there has been so much rain, the wildflowers were gigantic!!

I am in love with how these turned out!!
