Uh-oh!

Kaden has 2 words now under his little baby belt...
Right after his birthday, Kaden started repeating "dada" when you ask him to! The other day we were crawling up the stairs and he pointed to the pictures of Nic and said, "Dada!" I feel like it's been on the tip of his tongue for a little while now. A few months ago he would be taking a bottle, pull away and say, "Dad?" like he thought he heard Nic and was seeing if he was there!

Uh-oh! Another cute story goes with this word. Nic was carrying Kaden in one arm and a box of diapers in another. He threw the diapers over the baby gate in order to have a hand free to open it...It hit the floor and Kaden said, "uh... oh!"

I just can't get enough of that kid!

With that being said, Kaden has had a rough couple of days. I noticed two back upper teeth which apparently are molars, and he has been shoving his hands in his mouth like crazy. Poor kid has such a hard time with these teeth. :(

Our days

I guess I am just going to start off by saying I'm a little frustrated. I think I just thought Kaden would be walking by now... and it's fine that he's not (kinda). He gets where he needs to go quickly, is able to pull up on EVERYTHING and cruises around like a pro. That being said, he is heavy. And I am tired! Obviously I am not going to let Kaden crawl around everywhere... the doctor's office, the grocery store and where ever else he feels like! So I have to carry him around quite a bit when we are out. AND HE IS HEAVY! I feel like maybe I have pushed him a little bit to enjoy walking around holding on to my hands, which he grew to hate. He actually starting throwing a fit whenever I stood him up and said, "Let's walk!" Nic and I are trying not to care and just let him do it on his own. BUT HE IS HEAVY! I also think that as a therapist, I just expected that he would meet his milestones ON TIME (yes, I am aware that the average walker is 13 months...and could be up to 16 months). Anyway, yesterday we took out the dump truck and he was having a blast walking it around everywhere. Cracking up laughing. Actually, whenever it hit something and he couldn't continue, he signed "more." So maybe this is a start. :) But if anyone has any suggestions feel free to let me know!

And talking on the phone! He broke Nic's back button on his Blackberry and my dad was nice enough to give Nic his old one. So now Kaden has a Blackberry. It cracks me up everytime Nic or I say, "Kaden, where is your Blackberry?"



Kaden is now forward facing in the car! He likes the car better now and loves when mommy tickles his legs! He has also started becoming attached to a "blankie" which also doubles as his sleep sack. I think we may have it turned it to a blankie for him... so cute how he snuggles against it!

Newest editions

I have been working lately on several plates for customers at Be-dazzled, friends and myself!

One week after Kaden was born, we painted his feet and put footprints on a plate. I was nervous about painting his plate since I hadn't done a lot of painting in the past year. I ended up putting it off and putting it off... until his 1st birthday was quickly approaching. I made it a goal to finish it in time for his animal themed party. I don't think I have been more proud of a plate that I have completed. I wouldn't change a thing about it and it matches his jungle room perfectly! The animal print border around the feet turned out perfectly... and I put all of his birth information on the back of the plate.


I completed this plate for my friend Shea and her new daughter Claire. She is precious and I think the plate turned out pretty cute as well!!

My favorite things to do

There are several things that Kaden likes to do these days. Most of them involve getting in to trouble somehow!

Hanging out in the fridge. He climbs up on the ledge and tries to get food out of the fridge.

Sweeping the floors. Mimi bought him a play broom and dust pan but he prefers the real one.


Playing on the computer... Loves wiggling the mouse!

Getting inside the dishwasher. Today he learned how to unlock the lever and open it. Guess we will be headed out to get some dishwasher locks!

Petting Zoo Party

Kaden's petting zoo was amazing! We had the Babies for Babies party where they brought all baby animals- a piglet, 6 goats, 2 ducks, a hen, many chicks and guinea pigs, and 4 bunnies. We had a great time playing with all the animals and my mom and I fed the piglet a bottle of milk! One of the goats was just like a puppy, wanting to be pet and snuggled with. I want to have a petting zoo for my birthday!







Not that it was any surprise, but Kaden LOVED his cake! He had an animal-themed cake and his very own lion cupcake. He was a little hesitant at first... which lasted about 2 seconds after I gave him a taste of the frosting. Then he dug in... and it got messy!

Happy 1st Birthday!

Today is Kaden's 1st birthday! I will post more pictures of his birthday party as soon as I get them on the computer, but we had a blast at his petting zoo party!

Happy birthday, our sweet little boo. Thank you for a wonderful first year! We love you more than you know!
