Funny Bird

Kaden is a funny bird.

Today we went to Be-dazzled to do some footprints. I didn't think about it until after this happened, but the last time we were there was St. Patrick's Day (where I made a big deal about wearing green and pinching Mimi if she wasn't). As we pulled into the shopping center, Kaden said, "I'm wearing blue. And you're wearing blue. Is it blue day?" Nothing thinking anything of it, I said, "yep, must be blue day." Kaden replied with, "Oh! And if Mimi isn't wearing blue we can punch her!"

At Be-dazzled, Kaden started playing with wooden letters. He said, "Look an O!" My mom asked him what O stood for and he said, "OMG!" So awesome.

First Steps

This past Thursday, Cam took his first steps. I put him down on the floor and said, "Show Daddy how you walk!" And he took 3 steps!

This is our 3rd attempt at capturing this on video... so he was getting a bit tired of it! Since then he hasn't taken any more than about 3-4 steps, but it does seem like he has been a little braver with taking his hands off the furniture when he's going from one place to another.

11 months

Can it even be possible that Cam will be one years old next month? This year has truly been the fastest year of my life.

At 11 months old, Cam:
-Naps two times per day, around 9:30 and 1:30. There are days where he is too wound up to sleep... those aren't good days!
-Wears size 4 diapers now
-Is wearing 12-18 month clothes
-Still has only 2 bottom teeth! Where are the other teeth?!! Are they ever coming?
-Signs "eat" and "more" pretty regularly
-Has done the sign for "cereal" once or twice
-Now loves yogurt! I'm pretty sure it's his favorite food
-Has become a very picky eater. He had tried some bites of solids about a month ago and seemed to enjoy it (cheese, turkey, banana). For some reason now, the only solid food he wants to eat is cheerios. He pushes all other solids out of his mouth. If you try to trick him and put a solid bite in with pureed foods, he is able to separate it in his mouth and still spit out the solid piece. Some days he wants nothing to do with pureed foods either...
-Can pull up on anything
-Still stands up by himself when he doesn't realize you've let go. When he realizes he is doing this on his own, he lowers himself down
-Likes to walk behind anything that will move
-Can walk holding on with one hand
-I think he would be able to walk on his own (he is strong enough and balanced enough) but doesn't have the confidence!
-Still loves bath time and now he scoots close to Kaden and "washes" his back using his hand
-He has said a few words... I think I'm going to count them! Has said "up" "mama" and he may have said "cheese." One day he signed cheese and said "deez."
-Barks whenever he hears a dog bark
-He is the BEST boy when we are out of the house. He is the happiest, most easy going little thing when we are out running errands, even if he is exhausted. Everyone tells me how good he is.... then we come home....
-He smiles and laughs all the time
-He plays independently but would let you hold him all day
-Is trouble. His favorite things to do is to put his hands in the dog water bowls and to take the night light out of the hall upstairs
-Loves to "play" with the Ipad
-Knocks down whatever Kaden is building
-Still LOVES to open and close doors and drawers
-Still puts everything in his mouth, but now does it so fast you can hardly stop him
-Must have supersonic hearing because when he hears the refrigerator open, he is inside before you close the door. Same with the dishwasher.
-LOVES to look out the window
-Can wave "bye"
-Can play Pattycake by clapping his hands together then rolling them when time :)
-Loves to look at our family pictures on the way up the stairs
-Is starting to point at things
-Loves it outside. Loves going on wagon rides.
-Is such a sweet boy. I love him and love what a perfect fit he is in our family.

Happy Birthday!

I wonder if every year on March 8th, I will think back to the day Kaden was born. How scared we were... How excited we were... That day changed my life in every way. I learned how to do things I never thought I'd do, and I learned how to love more than I ever thought I could. I am amazed at how rewarding parenting is. I am amazed at how little patience I have! There are days that I have never laughed so much in my life. Kaden has taught me a lot and I have been blessed these last 3 years to see him grow.

I thought that I could "interview" him to see how he'd answer every year on his birthday. He got a little tired of my questions and told me to "stop talking and asking me things."

There are so many things I love about you, Kaden. You are kind and sweet, you are hilarious and you are so smart. I love when you ask me each night to "snuggle with me for this many minutes," holding up the number 5 on your hand. I love your goofy songs that you make up and sing all day long. If I had to pick one thing about you that I love the absolute most, it would have to be what an amazing big brother you are. You know how to make Cam feel better when he's sad, you know how to make him laugh, and you know how to teach him everything you know. Lately if he cries in the car, you say, "It's okay, Cam. We're almost home." You are so proud of him when he learns something new. Today in the car you said something about the "hycotie" and it sounded like Cam agreed with you and said "yeah!" You were so excited and told Cam, "Good job, Cam!! Mommy, Cam just learned how to say yeah!"

Have a wonderful 3rd birthday! You are so loved!!

*At 3 years old, Kaden weighs 35 pounds and is 38 3/4 inches (80th percentile for both)

10 1/2 month comparison

Lately I've been hearing that Cam is "starting to look like Kaden," and I wanted to check it out myself. Here are a few shots taken of both boys at around 10 1/2 months:

I tried to put the different face of each boy- serious, smiling, laughing, trouble... I see similarities, but a lot of differences!

Oh, and in case you couldn't tell, the first 4 pictures are Kaden and the last 4 are Cam :)
