Funny Conversations

Lately Kaden has been cracking me up with what has come out of his mouth!

Trying to get a button to work on his dump truck, "It needs batteries, it's not working!"

Sat on his dump truck and said "Going to Omaha... Omaha that way?" and pointed to the living room.

"Mommy's car better. Daddy's car dirty." (Sidenote: Mommy's car is far dirtier than Daddy's car)

As Nic was leaving for work, "Love you Daddy, drive safe!"

Kaden was a sweaty mess after playing outside yesterday so I took off his shirt. He ate lunch with his shirt off and when I looked over he had a piece of turkey on his chest. Because I didn't think he would know what his "chest" was, I told him he had turkey on his boob. He picked the piece off his chest, moved it on top of his nipple and sang "Turkey on the boob, on the boob... cha cha."

Out of no where at dinner last night, Kaden said "camels and llamas." I know I've never talked to him about camels or llamas so I asked him where the camels and llamas are... and he said "at the zoo!" He said Grandpa told him that... but Grandpa does not recall that conversation... so I'm still wondering where he learned that!

He's a crazy kid with a fabulous sense of humor.

Splashing around

Last week, Kaden, Cam and I went up to my mom's new store in Fairview. It's such a fun area with a lot of nice stores and a great fountain for kids to run through. We put on Kaden's swim suit and headed out there. Of course, being slow to warm up to EVERYTHING, Kaden didn't want to go in right away. But with a little nudging (aka bribing), Kaden was a soaking wet mess by the end!

Other than that, we've been trying to keep Kaden busy and Cam happy! Cam is falling into a better night schedule where he gets a bath or a sponge bath before bed and then he generally sleeps a 4-5 hour stretch before waking up to eat again. After that he goes about 3-4 hours, but I'm ready for a bit longer stretch! Cam loves the bath at the end of the day. Since 6:00-10:00 are pretty rough on him each night, the bath really calms him down before bed. Kaden has also been out to the golf course with Daddy and Pop a couple of times! Last Sunday Nic and Bill were able to play 6 holes with Kaden swinging along. He is learning good golf etiquette and is pretty quiet when they are playing! Nic made him his own golf club which is pretty stinkin' cute :)

After posting this I was curious if I had a picture of Kaden in the bath at 5 weeks old. I think this picture of Kaden was taken closer to the 4 week mark but I wanted to put it side by side to see the similarities:

Newborn slideshow and one month update

We have received our pictures from Cam's newborn shoot. The photograher puts a bunch of the pictures to music and makes a slide show. Check it out at www.poeticexposure.com/camdenwilliam and turn your volume up!

Cam had his one month checkup today.
Weight: 10 lbs, 13 oz -75th percentile
Length: 22 1/4 inches- 75th percentile
Head: 14 inches- 5th percentile!! Lil peanut!

Cam is exactly a half an ounce bigger than Kaden was at this appointment (and I didn't think babies could be any bigger than Kaden) and is 1/4 inch longer. Looks like we have another big boy on our hands!

He is still a great little boy, sleeping a lot during the day. He is starting to have more alert periods where he likes to look around. He is focusing more on our faces and tracks better with his eyes. He's been rolling from tummy to back since he was 4 days old!! Here is a video of it from before he was 2 weeks old:

Kaden is doing really well with Cam. He loves to lay next to him and laughs hysterically when Cam accidentally touches him. When Cam cries, Kaden says, "it's okay, baby" and rubs him gently on the belly. When he sneezes he says "bless you, baby." He's a great big brother! I love my boys!

Mother's Day

This poem was sent by Kaden's preschool director. I have read it a million times and teared up each time.

Before I was a Mom,
I never tripped over toys
Or forgot words to a lullaby.
I didn't worry whether or not
My plants were poisonous.
I never thought about immunizations.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never been puked on.
Pooped on.
Chewed on.
Peed on.
I had complete control of my mind
And my thoughts.
I slept all night.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held down a screaming child
So doctors could do tests.
Or give shots.
I never looked into teary eyes and cried.
I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin.
I never sat up late hours at night
Watching a baby sleep.

Before I was a Mom,
I never held a sleeping baby just because
I didn't want to put her down.
I never felt my heart break into a million pieces
When I couldn't stop the hurt.
I never knew that something so small
Could affect my life so much.
I never knew that I could love someone so much.
I never knew I would love being a Mom.

Before I was a Mom,
I didn't know the feeling of
Having my heart outside my body..
I didn't know how special it could feel
To feed a hungry baby.
I didn't know that bond
Between a mother and her child.
I didn't know that something so small
Could make me feel so important and happy.

Before I was a Mom,
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night
Every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay.
I had never known the warmth,
The joy,
The love,
The heartache,
The wonderment
Or the satisfaction of being a Mom.
I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much,
Before I was a Mom.

We had a wonderful Mother's Day and I thank Nic for making it such a special day. I also thank my mom for everything she's ever done for us. There are no words to express how grateful I am to her for what she does, says and how much she loves us. She is a great role model to me on how to raise my babies- and I definitely couldn't be the mommy I am without her in my life! I love you, Mom!!

Poetic Exposure

We had Kaden's newborn pictures done by Poetic Exposure and wanted the same look for Cam's! Here is a preview of some of the pictures- we will get the rest in a few weeks!

Cam had his 2 week doctor's appointment today and is doing well!
He weighs 8 pounds, 9.5 ounces (up 10 ounces from one week ago!!) and is 21 1/4 inches long. Since he has gained enough weight, we can start trying to stretch him to 3 hours between day time feedings and 3-4 hours at night (although he may be able to go longer than that at night- I've been waking him up every 3 hours to eat almost every night). Kaden is adjusting well to the baby and is very interested in all of his squeaking and funny baby noises. All in all, things are going well and I love being a mommy to 2 little boys!
