Omaha

We had a wonderful family trip to Omaha this year.  I was nervous about the car ride, but the kids did great!  The boys were entertained by movies and Ryane hung in there like a champ (the way back was much more rough for her).  We drove to Kansas City to see my friend Leah and her 4 week old twin cuties.  The next afternoon we drove to Omaha and stayed there for a week.  The weather was perfect for everything we did- swimming, going to the zoo, sitting out on the deck... and the boys had a fabulous time playing with Grandma and Grandpa.  After 7 weeks of the 3 kids and me together... they needed a break from me almost as much as I needed one from them!

Cam and Kaden were little fish on the 4th.  Kaden stayed in the water for 5 straight hours!  He didn't stop diving, jumping, swimming and exploring under the water.  It was super impressive.  Cam got out for snacks... other than that he was swimming really well.  G-pa tugged Cam around the pool for awhile too, which was the cutest thing ever.  It's very sentimental for me to see my kids having fun and playing in the same pool I did at their ages.  4 generations of our family have enjoyed this pool!

I hope to post more pictures of our trip to Omaha soon, but I thought that this video speaks for itself about my Cam-bone.  He's such a funny, goofy little boy... Once he saw the big kids (and by big kids I mean adult men) jumping off the board, he DIDN'T STOP JUMPING all afternoon!  He mostly just jumped but this particular dive cracked me up!

Today was Kaden's last t-ball game.  From the kid who wouldn't leave Nic's side to practice the first time, Kaden has made such big improvements!  He is starting to understand some of the basic concepts of the game and he is really into it when he's there.

7 month comparisons

Cam and Ryane.  I think they look a lot alike but she looks like a prettier version :) 

7 months

I almost cringe each 12th of the month.  I am in denial that my baby girl is getting older.  I absolutely love this stage of a baby's life, but at the same time I desperately miss those newborn months.

Ryane's in size 3 diapers although at night I put her in size 4s.  She could probably wear them during the day too. She still fits great into either 6-9 or 6-12 month clothes.

Ryane's naps are getting more consistent.  and she generally takes 3 1.5 hour naps.  Sometimes her 3rd nap is shorter.
She generally goes to bed around 6:30 and sleeps for about 11-12 hours.  If she wakes up before 5 she will usually go back to sleep for a bit.  If she wakes up after 5 she's up for the day.  She is awake about 2 hours before she goes back down for a nap.

Ryane's favorite thing to do is sit on the floor with the big container of legos and bang them around! She plays LOUD.  At first I thought she was unhappy so I'd pick her up.  But I actually think she just wants her voice heard- and in this house, you need to be loud in order to accomplish that!

 Ryane still has only 2 bottom teeth but she constantly has her fingers in her mouth.

She can sits up on her own, rarely ever falling over.  She is starting to attempt to reach for things out a bit in front of her but she won't go as far as getting on her hands and knees to reach.  On her belly she raises her chest really high and when I assist, she starts to pull her legs up under her.  She can wiggle herself around in a circle but doesn't make much progress going forwards or back. She again can roll both directions (most of the time... she still sometimes gets stuck going back to her back)

She sleeps on her side mostly and every once in awhile on her belly.  She sleeps with her arm up on the bumper or sucking on Lucy (her new bear). She screams when I'm changing her diaper and putting on her sleep sack before her nap.

Ryane belly laughs when Kaden makes a farting noise with his mouth.

Ryane still makes a lot of noises. She babbles some, yells, growls and makes noises with her lips or tongue. Yes, she growls. It's pretty funny.

She has tried sweet potatoes, carrots, avocado, apples and bananas.  She really only takes a few bites off the spoon before she's over it.

Ryane is so interested in Roxy, Harley and both the boys and they all tolerate her really well, too! They all make her smile A LOT.  She love to smile at Papa. 

Ry- you are a doll. Love you more each day!

 

Splash park

My mom and I took the kids to the splash park on one of the first hot days this summer. They had so much fun! Cam surprised me as he was more slow to get in and followed Kaden around everywhere he went. Kaden was more adventurous than I thought he would be. I see him gaining confidence in outdoor activities since he started OT. And he seems so much happier to go out and play!!

 My BFF Kate and Easton came to visit us!!!  It was a great trip and so nice getting to spend lots of time together.  I met Kate when I was born and she was 5 months old.  Ryane and Easton are just about the same amount apart (6.5  months).
